"The first time I came across Maxton mouthpiece (model 9–5), I was very surprised how round and flexible the sound is. I have tried so many mouthpieces during my life, but this really caught my attention and I immediately started using it. It has a very natural resistance balance which I was always struggling to find with other mouthpieces. This really felt like the right model for me straight away. I was even more impressed with the model BELA flexilis which has the same qualities like 9-5 but the material holds the intonation even more stable. Lastly, when I blow into a MAXTON mouthpiece, it feels like playing on a pillow."

"After a long research for mouthpieces with no results, I heard a very good reference about MAXTON from a colleague. Upon hearing this, I decided to order several ”classic” models, focusing my attention mainly on BELA, AMADEUS and SERGEJ. I have to say that I was really surprised with the result. They have a very warm, dark and homogeneous sound. These mouthpieces undoubtedly facilitate the balance between the registers and are very agile when articulating. At the moment, I am using AMADEUS and it is truly versatile as it allows me to play any style, whether it in orchestra, chamber music or solo clarinet."

"This is the first time I try MAXTON mouthpieces. I didn’t know this kind of material, but after testing them, I was totally amazed. The sound quality when playing with Amadeus and SERGEJ (Böhm classic) was incredible. Both has a very natural balance, and a flexible and round sound that I have been looking for a long time. Also, the articulation is much easier and more precise. I bought both mouthpieces, as I could not rule out any of them. Since then, I am much more comfortable and confident playing in orchestra and chamber music, with a powerful and beautiful sound. Certainly, I didn’t expect these amazing results. I am sure I will continue playing with MAXTON mouthpieces."

"As a perfectionist by nature, I was lucky to discover MAXTON, the synonym for pure perfection when it comes to the clarinet sound. I personally use flexilis mouthpieces, which further enrich the already beautiful sound of the mouthpieces. Interestingly, the mouthpiece is extremely flexible and can be used for various styles of music, from outstanding classical music to jazz and folk music. I play all these styles of music myself, so from my own experience I can say that MAXTON mouthpieces have enriched my musical performances and creativity; I have become much more productive, secure and confident since I started playing with MAXTON mouthpieces. With these mouthpieces, it is possible to play up to ppp without any noise and with a completely clear and controlled tone up to ff. With a light nozzle, without additional pressure, they produce a beautiful, full, colourful sound, which is more than appropriate for performance on the most demanding stages. The articulation is precise and easy. I would highly recommend MAXTON mouthpieces to any musician who wants to excel in any of the above qualities. They offer the bright future for every successful musician."

Never change a running System?

tun?

"Great mouthpieces! My Selmer basset horn has to be played with a very open Bb clarinet mouthpiece. I tried your "Dmitri" model and was blown away! It has a beautiful, powerful sound, and great tuning. Thank you for the excellent customer service and feedback! Bravo!"

The first time I visited the MAXTON shop in Vienna was in spring 2020. The premise is very cozy and beautiful and the staff is so friendly! They showed me all their products and explained everything there is to know about them.

I have tried all the mouthpieces and they were wonderful, but one was the best for me – MAXTON BELA flexilis. This mouthpiece fits perfect for me and my Buffet Tosca and gives me the possibility to play “piano” soft and clean and “forte” soft and colorful. MAXTON BELA flexilis has such a deep and dark tone, like the Viennese clarinet sound tradition is known for.

Here you can check out my sound with the MAXTON mouthpiece on my debut album."

"It’s the first time I use MAXTON mouthpieces and I am really happy with the result. I received three different models in both types (classic and flexilis) and I was amazed at the powerful sound they produce, especially the throat notes which sound warm and full-bodied. The staccato works smoothly and beautifully, they are easy to control and flexible. It is easy to make contrasting sounds. I play Légère reeds (European cut) and I believe these mouthpieces have improved the quality of my playing. I perform a great variety of music from solo, chamber to orchestral and contemporary music and the discovery of these mouthpieces have helped me improve my performance."

Beate Funk

"If I am to summarize my contacts with the MAXTON team in three key words, it is:

• PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCE

• INSPIRING

• PERSONAL SERVICE, THOUGHT AND CUSTOMER CARE

I am a privileged owner of a Reform-Bohem B-clarinet made 1982 by the art music instrument manufacturer “Herbert Wurlitzer”. For many years I have tried several different combinations of mouthpieces and reeds but have failed to get the air flow and projection that I had as a target image. On a couple of recordings from church concerts I did, I would have liked to get the tone and sound even better, as I knew it was possible by having heard other recordings by Herbert Wurlitzer Reform-Boehm clarinet players.

MAXTON team by Melanie Schaber, did a thorough analysis of my situation, and returned to me shortly, some suggestions on mouthpieces and reed combinations. The suggestions I received, I perceived as a professional consultation based on broad knowledge and skills. The proposals also contained clear indications of delimitations and non-recommended combinations, which I very much appreciated. That is, from my point of view, some of the fundaments of serious long-term customer care and so to say a “Proof of concept”.

In combination with personal service, thoughtfulness and inspiring dialogue, I am now a very satisfied owner of my first MAXTON KURT flexilis mouthpiece. The air flows through the clarinet in a fantastic way. Exceptional smoothness over all registers. I am really surprised. The very broad set-up of appropriate reeds is most welcome. And I do like the flexible “o-ring” solution instead of the normal cork sealing. This makes it easy to get a perfect match between the mouthpiece and the barrel(s). As a grateful customer, I now feel that I am in a much better position of continuing the journey to be able to give my fine clarinet craftsmanship greater justice in the service of music. I am certain that I will be coming back to the MAXTON team for future dialogue and purchases, confident that their development, know-how, inspiration and new solutions will be a part of building new musical based requirements. I strongly recommend You do the same."

"I play the MAXTON “Karlheinz”-flexilis and from the start I was totally amazed by its wonderful, thick, dark sound and its equality in all registers: there is never a “lesser” tone! It responds very good in any articulation. This mouthpiece has a fantastic projection and with minimum input you’ll create maximum output. I’ll be playing MAXTON-flexilis forever!"
